Harder time for some ...

Hi folks,

These days a lot more scary news about Intel chips, more disappointments ... Seems AMD is a slightly better choice if any purchase is scheduled ...

Also an historical (nearly 20 years) subtle bug of openssh, another bad spot since Heartbleed and such.

Anyway ... apart of this, I still pushed few changes to php 7.3 series, one to fix fixed paging to avoid old mapping discarding (when it s possible ...) so this function really fullfill its "contract" (and seems to give a bit of performance gain), one to fix compilation warning ... that should be nearly all, it is very soon time for pure bug fixes and also to switch new developments to master/future 7.4 ...

Finally, my old golang contribution had been merged so it can benefit (near future) FreeBSD's stronger randomness generation ... Otherwise, little commits here and there, helping other OpenBSD folks when they port something, if I can fix bugs in the meantime :-)

Now Barony 3.2.0, after a short beta time, had been released on Steam and seems changes please its players ... Expecting Gog.com "shortly" ...

Pre-release weather

Hi folks,

These days have been slightly more on FreeBsD than OpenBSD but now I m less into LLVM 7 and start to focus on the future 8 version. Starting with static code analysis where more BSD functions can be checked. My jemalloc little change had been merged, was always frustrated the unit tests never ran ... Also, finally, Barony made its way to the FreeBSD ports tree with similar approaches as its OpenBSD's counterpart. Speaking of this game, a new Gog.com version should occur as many developments had been done since the 3.1.4 version even though a lot of are related to Steam workshop. But still lot of bug fixes and now the game saves data into the user's folder instead. And there is few new contents I believe ... To finish with FreeBSD, the device atlas package had been updated to the last 2.1.4 version (with a little additional surprise within)...

Apart of this, the PHP 7.3 Beta is for soon, at least the GitHub repo has tagged the version, still expecting first Release Candidates in September ... Very minor code changes in my side. As usual, I still commit few fixes/changes to radare2, now it can display if a binary is compiled with retguards for example.

Finally ...

Hi folks,

On this first of August, LLVM 7.0.0 had been created. For the next couple of weeks, that will be Release Candidates, bugs fixing and a bit of docs changes. It has been a nice ride being part of the release since December :-) FreeBSD already schedules its import in the base system for the 12.x release (OpenBSD will do the same most likely for 6.4 or 6.5 ...) which means having finally in addition msan, fuzzer and X-ray instrumentation among other things ...
Now thinking fully of the next 8.0.0 !!

Speaking of FreeBSD, my little fix for the top command line had been merged. This is a kind of subtle issue not noticeable in production when its plays with memory boundaries ...
Apart of this, some openbsd-gaming folks (thfr in fact :-) a great FNA game specialist it seems) pointed out a new open sourced video game Starrulers 2 when I fixed very little things so he can port it in due time ...

At last, as last year, there is EuroBSDCon, this time at the University of Politechnica of Bucharest with lot great tutorials and speeches.
